5280 Literacy Leadership Symposium: A Call to Action!
Sat, June 22, 2024 02:30 PM - 07:00 PMEDT
1200 Broadway, Denver, CO 80203, USA
The Reading League Colorado is hosting our first annual, in person Symposium, 5280 Literacy Leadership Symposium: A Call to Action on June 22, 2024. Our organization aims to advance evidence-aligned reading instruction. Our first symposium will focus on providing a landscape to the relevancy of getting reading instruction right for children in Colorado. We have a good foundation, but we need to ensure key stakeholders have a sense of urgency to support all our kids in Colorado to achieve their right to read!
Please join state chapters of The Reading League in California, Colorado, Michigan, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, and New York, as well as Collaborative Classroom, for a four-part virtual book study on Dr. Elsa Cárdenas-Hagan's Literacy Foundations for English Learners.
This essential text gives educators a solid base in helping English learners develop strong literacy skills.
Book study attendees will:
Gain an understanding of the essential language and literacy development of English learners
Get insight from reliable research on how to best teach English learners the key components of language and literacy
Review evidence-based strategies, principles, and activities that will help guide instruction
Leverage technology to enhance instruction
Participants will also get the opportunity to discuss their learning with educators from across the country.
