The Reading League’s Reading Buddies Launches To Rave Reviews
In September, The Reading League hosted a celebration and sneak peek of its new children’s television show, The Reading League’s Reading Buddies.
The Reading League’s Reading Buddies is an engaging, foundational reading television series that teaches the underlying components of skillful word reading such as phonological awareness, letter names/sounds, and blending sounds to decode words accurately. It is designed for students in grade levels Pre-K – 3, but the young and young-at-heart will also find it entertaining! Attention is given to social-emotional growth, and the esthetic of the show is mid-century modern (think Shari Lewis sensibility and Mr. Rogers sentiment).
The show features Dott, her dog Dusty, and their robot friend and learning tool, Alphabott. The trio are best friends and reading buddies. Dusty loves to talk, but learning to read is a new skill. With the help of Dott and Alphabott, he discovers that it is a ball of fun! Whether it’s in his doghouse or during his bath time, he learns letter formation, letter sounds, blending sounds to read words, social skills, and so much more!
The show is produced in collaboration with WCNY and Dusty & Dott, LLC. and is currently airing at 12:30 pm Monday – Friday on WCNY (PBS) and on YouTube.
